Miss Katie was a real live wire today. Her daddy was gone two days on business and it was like she had stored up lots of energy and fun especially for him. She has been very verbal today and was actually quite insistent that she get her point across at ALL times. She kept telling us to "SIT!" "READ!" "WALK!" "ROSY!" - that one was for ring around the rosy :) "UP!" "MINE!" and on and on. These were all spelled in capitol letters with exclamation points because they were barked like orders. We kept trying to tell her to lower her voice a bit but NO!!!
This morning I went to the doctor to do a physical for our adoption and afterwards I called Marc to let him know how it went. I kept calling and there was no answer. Finally, when I reached him and asked him where he had been he told me that he was taking a shower while The Starr was watching her fav guy Elmo. I told him that I had been trying to reach him and was getting worried. He started laughing because at one point when I was calling it seems that Katie came running into the bathroom with one shoe and sock on and one shoe and sock off (that is what she does while watching TV) and actually brought the phone to Marc babbling something very loudly. Marc thought that she was just playing with the phone but she had actually tried to tell him that it was ringing and that he needed to answer it!!
We just put her to bed and I can still here her babbling away to her stuffed animals (captive audience just like Mommy and Daddy) This girl just cracks us up :)

Ah yes! Lily didn't start with the chattering until she was almost 2, but once it started...
look out!
Let the good times roll...
Now when the phone rings she'll say
"my telephone ringing!" and she'll say "Lily talk" until I give her the phone and let her say hello.
Girls are so much fun!
Libby's in her bed talking and babbliing and generally cracking us up. What happened to our babies?
When Lily was in the babbling stage my father called it, "talking scribble" and it has stuck, now we all call it that.
I love the fact that Katie Starr insists on GETTING HER POINT ACROSS. You must be laughing so much these days.
Oh how fun! I love how you said you're a captive audience.
Last night Marie plopped a book up on a little shelf then leaned over it and yell-babbled for about 10 minutes. No clue what she was saying but boy was she animated and having a good time. I sure hope that book recovers... ;-)
That is so cute! She sounds like quite an entertainer!
Captive audience, huh? I totally get that. Erin talks to her buddies each night during her night-night ritual. David & I get a good laugh at listening to her babbling. It's almost as if she expects answers.
Does Marc's phone allow specific rings for specific people? Maybe Katie Starr knew it was mommy.
You may not know what she is saying, but she certainly knows! Toddlers have quite a mouth full, I just wish they knew how to talk in a quiet voice! hehe, Thanks for the laugh!
Love your blog and reading about Kaite and your family - we are also in the waiting period right now - we are in the China program (for the second time now) wish our agency offered Taiwan - we may have gone that route too. I will be back - enjoyed your blog.
