Last night I left off with our potty learner's reticence to poo poo in the potty. Well, about an hour after that was posted, Marc arrived home and went in to check on Katie. His nose told him immediately that Katie had finally pooped - in her underwear!! That was fun...(NOT!!)...to clean up! Poor Marc did the dirty deed as I was on the other side of the house and I never heard his yells for help (Yes, your honor that is the whole truth and nothing but the truth!)
I knew that this was going to be the issue with Katie as she suffers from constipation and sometimes it hurts her to go. Couple that with the fact that our Starr has a controlling personality and....Houston; we have a problem.
This morning we walked in to find that Katie had just wet her bed as the sheet was barely wet and that thankfully Ethan was dry. The rest of the day Katie went to the bathroom every time she needed to pee pee. We seem to have daytime urination under control....fingers crossed. Today we have more of the same in the area of her bowel movements. She needs to go and she is holding back :(
We have reached the end of our three days of potty boot camp. I have to say that it was very difficult for me to stay home and be that focused on the one task for the long weekend. I kinda felt at times that I was being punished for something that I had done; kinda like being grounded..LOL. I am not good at having my wings clipped. Thankfully, today my folks and my future daughter in law Judy and her sister Joyce came to visit. The big kids swam with the Little's after we grilled our lunch...very nice!!
Tomorrow, I head to work which will feel like a vacation after this and on Wednesday Katie heads back to preschool with her partial potty skills. I am very proud of her and her teachers will be too. Hopefully by Wednesday we will have # 2 under control. I am sure her teachers will appreciate that.
My daily Mantra is a very fitting way to end this post ~ This too shall pass!
P.S. If anyone has any suggestions on a way to help Katie with her poop issues please feel free to post them on the comments.

Sorry to hear that Marc was left alone to help Katie Starr! Poor guy! He deserves some special treat too!
Many children who are potty training have issues with pooping in the potty. Why?
1. Control - you already know about that one & don't need an explanation
2. Fear - seeing what they associate as a part of them "going down the drown."
Whether or not Katie Starr completes potty training boot camp quickly, I can assure you that by the time Kindergarten starts, she'll be done. Because of Erin's issues, we let her show us the way. Yes it took longer. But she was done by 4 with both pee pee & poop.
As for Katie Starr's constipation, believe it or not, one method I read about was giving a child a teaspoon of grape jam every day. I even brought it to China! One of the parents used it, & it worked. And here I thought prunes were the only way to go! (Sorry for the pun.)
Grace was scared to death to poop in her potty chair, but when I sat her on "mommy's potty" she was thrilled. Now she can't wait to go! Weird huh?

Hi Lori! ;o)
First, congrats on finishing potty training boot camp! :O)))))) It is good that Katie has mastered daytime urination! :O))
For pooping on the potty, what worked for Yasmin was having pottytime about half an hour after meals. She would sit on her pottychair to watch tv, read a book or play with her toys, and then she would go. She usually goes #2 around the same time every day, so this worked well for her.

Minouche
No advice here, we've got the complete opposite problem from a stopped-up kiddo and always have. :-) Sending good thoughts and hoping it all works out quickly.
I wish I had advice. Kerri still hides for #2. And is stubborn. Obstinate comes to mind.
Congratulations on your achievements Katie and Lori!
Katie Starr has come a long way during her boot camp. It may just take time. I'm sorry, I don't have any great words of advice. Gracie has issues with constipation sometimes but she took to using the potty quickly. She only goes every other day now though.

Please read the entry titled Powdered-gold. This mother's infant was having some issues and a nurse recommended a product.
Good Luck,
Deborah
I'm sorry...but all I can do is crack up laughing...and the post below as well. You know the drill...sometimes it takes longer than 3 days a booty camp! ;)
