That is the answer that Marc and I both used for the same hysterical question that Katie asked us at different times on the same day this past week.
Katie says the following to me VERY SOFTLY..."Mom, come closer to me, I have to ask you a question."
I come closer and then she leans over with the most flirty and coy face that you can even imagine as she says...
"Mom, I love you....will you marry me?"
What?!? Of course I did not say that. I just laughed sweetly and said:
"Not in this state honey!" ROFLMAO... In Florida,we have a constitutional amendment on the ballot next month that will decide whether a man and a woman are the only parties that should be allowed to be in a State recognized marriage, so of course my sarcastic self had to answer with that. Of course, then I went on the clarify that a mommy and a daughter do not get married and left it at that. She looked pretty disappointed by that bit of news, so of course the only logical thing to do if you are three years old and disappointed by mommy's answer is to.......
Ask daddy the same question!!!
You know what, he gave her the same answer, "Not in this state honey."
How do you like that?!? I guess we are on the same weird wave length. ;0)
That brings me to part two of my post, which is that Viv at "Life with Kerri" is running a contest about the funny and memorable things that kids and parents say to each other. "Mommy, will you marry me?" made it into the finals. I am going to be shameless and ask that my bloggy friends vote for Katie Starr's comment on this link. You will see the poll on the top right of the blog and we are number 4 in the poll.
Thanks in advance for voting for our entry. Don't let Katie Starr be disappointed twice in one week. If she could not marry her mommy and/or her daddy, she should be given the prize for her cuteness by my good friend in the cold cold North of lots of Canadian Goodies.
