Tonight, after dinner the DD were playing happily in the family room. I was in my bedroom folding clothes and listening to them over the monitor in case all hell broke loose, as can happen at any given moment when our two 3 year old's get together. Katie walked in our room to show me her baby doll with Ethan trailing right behind her. She excitedly told me that she and Ethan had used the "sponges" to clean her baby. I asked her what "sponges" she was referring to and she broke one of these out from her pocket.
They are puzzle pieces that are made of foam and I guess you could consider them "sponge like." I asked her if they were running the water on the sponges. They know not to do that as we have had a couple of near misses when they ran water without us knowing and we almost had floods. Katie Starr adamantly told me that she had not run the water.
They leave the room and once I finish folding the laundry I walk into the family room to see that they are running the puzzle piece "sponges" over the baby. "See Mommy, we are doing a good job cleaning my baby!" I ask her again about the water because now I could see some moisture on the baby and she firmly tells me "No, we did not run the water!" Ethan is nodding his head quite vigorously as he backs up his sister's story by also piping in with "no water!" I take a puzzle piece and feel it and it is wet; in fact every one of them was soaking wet! I again ask them why the "sponges" are wet and then the truth comes out...."Mom, we licked them all and we are cleaning our babies with them!"
I wish I had caught their little faces on film when I incredulously explained to them in the simplest terms possible how gross that was and that they should not do that because it was "Ca Ca" (my kid word for gross) and that they may get sick from doing it and "choke" (Katie's word for throwing up.) They both looked completely disgusted..well Yeah!!
Never a dull moment!

LOL!!! I am finally speechless!!
Did you manage to keep a straight face when they explained this one? :)
they are always thinking!!!
Oh boy are you in trouble. Ha, ha, ha!!! Look at those genius little minds, looking for ways around the rules. Yep. You are in BIG trouble, Mama!
Well this one made me really LOL! You've got a couple of smart ones, bending the rules.
Not much gets me after busting a kid licking the bottom of his shoe because he wanted it clean. NOT kidding.
Whew, I thought you were going to say someone peed on the foam 'sponges'...whew.
Too funny! BTW, I thought you were going to say they peed on it, too.
I'm glad it was saliva and not something else and they were telling the truth, they didn't run the water.
Yikes! I'm with Carol on the thought process! Guess my mind needs some help. But, hey! They did listen & didn't turn the water on. Score 1 for mom!
ROTFL! Yup, I thought you were going to say they peed on them as well! I let out a big WHEW! when I read that they *had only* licked them. ;-)
What nice, clean dolls they have now!
Woweee, you guys have an even stranger imagination that the DD..too funny!
Now that is classic! They'll love that story at their weddings:)
